On January 25th, 2019, Sandals Resorts announced the permanent closure of their premiere resort, Beaches Turks and Caicos. This announcement to the travel industry came as a shock and Sandals Resorts has confirmed that they will close on January 15th, 2021. In a statement, Beaches Resorts said:
Between now and 2021 it looks like Beaches Turks and Caicos will also be closing in the fall travel season:
- September 3rd, 2019- October 14th, 2019 (re-opening October 15th)
- September 7th, 2020- October 21st, 2020 (re-opening October 22nd)
- January 15th, 2021 – onward until further notice
“Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, Beaches Turks & Caicos will be closed … We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause, however, we find this closure necessary due to a significant amount of unresolved external issues we are experiencing locally in this destination which have impacted our operations. The closure will affect only a portion of September and October for 2019 and 2020, however, Beaches Turks
& Caicos will be closed until further notice as of January 15th, 2021.”
